MEN'S ABORTION "RIGHTS"
(via thenewhotness:un-punk:prodeath)
“I understand that adopting social policy that gives fathers the right to veto abortions would lead to presently unknown psychological consequences for women forced to carry babies to term. But I don’t know that those consequences are greater than those suffered by men forced to end the lives of their unborn children.”
YOU ARE FUCKING JOKING.
Thanks, Fox News’ Dr. Keith A-blow-me. This from the guy who also says unemployment compensation causes major depression. Not unemployment, no no. Unemployment compensation. Oh, and he believes Maria Shriver should forgive Arnold. Because I’m sure he knows so much about their relationship. He’s also covered hard-pressing issues like urinals and Cameron Diaz’ views on marriage. I think it’s particularly impressive that he’s all about men’s rights. Except when he advocates castration.
This dude is a joke. Even by Fox’s standards. His list of articles on Fox’s website reads like The Onion’s archives.
Full disclosure: I don’t know much about this guy or watch Fox News, but I don’t generally agree with most major headlines from this media outlet.
The point of this article center around a man getting a woman pregnant and accepting responsibility. Is this such a bad thing? Are we really going to get up in arms about a man wanting to raise a child he had a part in creating? One big concern I see is the mental health of the woman with having to take a baby to term and essentially give it up for adoption. I don’t know if there are any studies, but who’s to say that it’s worse than the mental anguish of a woman having an abortion? I’d like to see know if there’s any data that suggests one is worse/longer lasting than the other.
I understand pregnancy isn’t easy, but neither is raising a child. The fact that a man would want to change their life to raise their own child should be a good thing and something I’d think we’d all want from someone in this position.
